Camp Councelor Jason Introduces 15 People You'll Meet At Summer Camp

1.) The moe.ron / Umphreak 052314abbyfox_097 Summer Camp is an annual requirement for the most hardcore of moe. & Umphrey’s McGee fans, all of whom seem to know more than the next about their favorite band.

2.) The Artist

It seems like no matter where you find yourself throughout the four days you’re bound to run into people creating, whether it’s a painting, jewelry, music, etc.

3.) Musicians On Foot

052314abbyfox_004 Along with the many talented artists you’ll find playing on seven stages over the weekend, I always find a plethora of SCampers who bring their own musical talents (and instruments) to Three Sisters Park.

4.) The True Competitor

Over the last four years Summer Camp has hosted its annual Field Day competition, featuring a wide variety of games ranging from tug-of-war to a pizza eating contest. Highlighting it all is the annual Saturday morning Sunrise Kickball Game with Ryan Stasik of Umphrey’s McGee. SCampers with a competitive nature flock to these games in the hopes of winning a keg party for their team…

5.) The Naturalist

05262014-dannwunderlich-173 Whether it rains or the sun shines all weekend long, these festival goers will find a way to get as filthy as possible and wear their Three Sisters Park dirt with pride.

6.) The Costumed

It’s always great running into somebody rocking a unique costume. From the old banana man classic to a full Abe Lincoln getup, you’re guaranteed the opportunity for some impressive photo ops with your fellow SCampers.

7.) Parents

052314abbyfox_057 Seeing a little one blowing bubbles or throwing water balloons off of the tractor is inevitable. With an impressive array of kids activities offered each year at the festival, you’re bound to see a few future SCampers in training.

8.) The Festival Virgin

These SCampers ran out of water on the first day, avoided sun screen, and forgot to bring a towel. If you see them, offer some help!

9.) Hoopers

052214abbyfox_10 Hoopers are fun to watch in the daytime, accenting the lack of a light show… and even more fun to watch at night when the LED lights turn on. Summer Camp often brings many of the most talented from across the country, and provides the perfect field to learn in as well.

10.) Volunteers

052314abbyfox_050 Volunteers will be located throughout Three Sisters Park handing out festival booklets, assisting with festival greening initiatives, and more. Their contribution helps Summer Camp run smoothly, and the festival wouldn’t be possible without them!

11.) The Go Getter

The “fear of missing out” (FOMO) does strange things to attendees. Some will stay awake as long as humanly possible attempting to catch all of the late night action. If you see these SCampers, offer them water and a place to rest! 🙂

12.) The PLUR

052514jasonkaczorowski495 They are all about Peace, Love, Unity and Respect of the festival environment and their fellow SCampers. They’re also going to be rocking their kandi bracelets and riding the rail for the always impressive selection of EDM acts that take the stage.

13.) The Organic Fanatic

You’ll find these SCampers using their organic soap in the showers, assisting with the festival’s greening initiatives, or on the hunt for some organic food vendors. They’ll also likely participate in the annual RAGE AGAINST GMOs march that starts at the Soulshine Stage – wave as they go by, or better yet join the cause!

14.) The Festival Veteran

052414keithgriner-66 This SCamper might have stories of seeing the Dead back in the day, or tell you what Summer Camp was like back in ’06! You’d be wise to listen.

15.) Yourself

Some time throughout the duration of the festival, you’ll likely discover a part of yourself that you didn’t know before.
